HALIFAX– Changes to the Halifax Transit schedule begin tonight in preparation for the Macdonald Bridge deck replacement project and other permanent schedule changes.

As of tonight  Halifax Transit buses will no longer be going across the Macdonald Bridge between Sunday and Thursday evenings starting at 6:30 p.m. daily. Halifax Transit says that although several routes will be affected by the bridge closures and other service changes, “it is important to note that peak weekday commuting travel will not be impacted in any way.”

While the bridge is under construction and service changes are beginning to be implemented a shuttle bus service will be available for routes that usually use the Macdonald Bridge.

Passengers travelling to Darmouth will be able to catch a shuttle at the Scotia Square Terminal MetroLink bus stop.

Halifax Transit says that if the Macdonald Bridge is open to traffic, the shuttles will use the bride and stop at all stops on Gottingen and North Street, however in most cases they say the shuttle will use the MacKay Bridge and stop only at stops on Gottingen. The shuttle will end at the Highfield Terminal or the Bridge Terminal in Dartmouth.
