Scott Ring strikes gold at the Canada Winter Games

Scott Ring struck gold in the men’s individual air pistol competition Thursday.

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – New Brunswick’s very own Scott Ring struck gold in the men’s individual air pistol competition Thursday at the Canada Winter Games in Prince George, B.C.

“I went into the competition with no huge expectations,” said Ring, of St-George, moments after winning Team New Brunswick’s first gold medal of the Games.

“I just wanted to shoot my absolute best and that’s all I could do.”

Ring who scored 192.0 points now holds the Canada Games record.

Team New Brunswick has won a total of four medals at the Canada Winter Games so far.

Ring’s target shooting teammates Emily Dean and Delayne Donohue, both of St-Stephen, earned Team New Brunswick’s first medal of the Games Monday, scoring silver in the women’s air rifle team competition.
