55-year-old woman charged in Verdun stabbing death

MONTREAL — A 55-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the stabbing death of a 57-year-old man.

Montreal police began its murder investigation after the man, later identified as Paul Brown, was found by a neighbour with multiple stab wounds to his upper body in the lobby of his apartment on Manning Street in the borough of Verdun on Feb. 16.

Brown had a criminal record and was facing charges of sexual assault involving minors.

Jessie Quannaaluk was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 17, and faces charges of second-degree murder.

Police have confirmed that Quannaaluk knew the victim.

It was the fifth homicide in Montreal in 2015.
