Last month, Mandy Len Catron wrote an article in the New York Times which generated a lot of buzz on social media – more than she expected. She detailed a 20-year old study by psychologist Arthur Aron whose research indicated it may be possible to fall in love with anyone.
Catron tested Aron’s theory with an acquaintance at a bar and later they were married.
The idea is awfully romantic – and friends and I have discussed trying it for ourselves. However, the panel of “love” experts we feature on the show this weekend knocked some holes in Aron and Catron’s theory. You can see that in the extended version of the Love Round Table available on our website.
In the end, everyone has a theory about love, but perhaps the most compelling comes from Dionne Warner, whose almost 20 year battle with cancer could have been lost at any time. Her love story with her “wingman” is perhaps the greatest love story we could tell on Focus Saskatchewan.
I wish you all a very happy Valentine’s Day!
