Ottawa police arrest Montreal man wanted in attempted murder case

OTTAWA – Ottawa police have arrested a man who has been wanted for over six months in connection to an attempted murder in Montreal.

Police say they were contacted by Montreal police on Saturday, informing them that 19-year-old Rashawn Hamilton was believed to be in Ottawa.

They  located the suspect and arrested him early Sunday morning, and he remains in police custody in Ottawa.

Hamilton was wanted in connection with an incident that occurred on July 18, 2014, when a 23-year-old man was stabbed but survived.

Two other men, aged 18 and 20, were arrested on Jan. 13 in connection with the stabbing and have appeared in court.

Montreal police are travelling to Ottawa to escort Hamilton back to Montreal to face attempted murder charges in court Monday.
