REGINA – Think Monday’s 8-cent gas price hike to 85 cents/litre was steep? There is good and bad news on the way for drivers.

“The bad news is we’re going to see gas prices going up in February, leading into March and the summer driving season. We should see gas prices going up probably to around $1.20 in May,” said Jason Toews, co-founder of GasBuddy.com.

The good news is that prices should decrease in the next couple of weeks, at least for a little while.

Gas stations were making a profit of 5 cents/litre on gas in previous days before wholesale gas prices jumped 2 cents. Now, the profit is 13 cents/litre.

“Essentially, the gas stations raised their prices to earn more profit,” said Toews.

Not all stations in the city got the ’85 is the new 73′ memo. One station was selling gas at 70 cents/litre for a period of time on Tuesday, according to GasBuddy’s website.
