Barack Obama clarifies why David Cameron is his ‘bro’

TORONTO – U.S. President Barack Obama wants everyone to know that U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron is one of his “closest and most trusted partners in the world.” That’s why they’re bros.

“David recently noted how comfortable the two of us are working together,” said Obama in a joint press conference Friday morning related to cyber security and the recent shootings in Paris, France. He was referring to a recent Telegraph article in which Cameron was reported to have said Obama calls him not David, Davy or D-Cam… but “bro.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“This sent some commentators into a tizzy,” Obama said Friday. “Some explored the linguistic origins of the word ‘bro.’ Others debated its definition. Several analyzed how this term has evolved over time. Some seemed confused and asked, ‘What does Obama mean?'”

Watch the video above to see how Obama puts speculation to rest, and what he “personally” has to say about the PM.
