KELOWNA – A 20-year-old New Brunswick man is facing potential charges after a Scotiabank was robbed in Kelowna Thursday afternoon. RCMP were called to the branch on Dilworth Drive just after 3:30 p.m. Police say a masked man wearing dark clothes walked into the bank and demanded money from a teller. The suspect then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police say no weapon was produced and no one was hurt in the incident.
RCMP responded with every available police unit and quickly cordoned off the area. Police say with public tips about the suspect’s direction of travel, a police dog was quickly able to establish a track. The suspect was located hiding on a lower balcony in the nearby Bristol Gardens apartment building. The man was arrested and the stolen cash recovered.
The young man is facing charges of Robbery and Disguise with Intent. He remains in custody and is expected to appear in court Friday.
