WATCH: Very strong heroin kills two and hospitalizes others in Vernon

VERNON – It’s heroin that has apparently been laced with a very powerful, clinical pain killer. And it’s killing people in Vernon.

RCMP have issued a public warning after two people died in the past week from drug overdoses and four others had to be treated at hospital.

Police say the overdose survivors believe the heroin was mixed with another drug, perhaps fentanyl. They’re asking the loved ones of hard drug users to help spread the message.

“Those individuals may or may not listen to local media. So we’re asking family and friends who know individuals who utilize drugs to be proactive and make them aware. We’re very concerned. We don’t want to see anyone else be harmed,” says RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

Police have seized some drugs in their investigation into the overdose deaths. They won’t know exactly what they’re dealing with until analysis results are received.
