Craft club donates warm winter accessories

Mittens, hats and scarves hang from 'mitten tree' at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. Global News

CALGARY – Lethbridge residents putting their knitting needles to work, to create some warm winter accessories for people in need.

Members of the Chinook Regional Craft Club have donated hand-made mittens, scarves and toques to organizations, including the Salvation Army and Lethbridge Family Services.

“There’s about 15 ladies in our group and we have some outside of the hospital, knitters that just volunteer from home,” Says Nettie Hildebrand, with the craft club.

“ A lot of the wool, actually most of the wool has been donated to us. So we knit all year.”

Some of those warm winter accessories have already been donated to families, but others are hanging on the ‘mitten tree’ at the Chinook Regional Hospital.
