Matthew Tucker ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluation after mother’s death

ST.STEPHEN, N.B. – A friend of Dorothy Tucker’s says her friends and family are trying to come to terms with her death.

Lori Damon and her daughter, Shekayla, met Dorothy through a special needs program. Shekayla is autistic and worked with Dorothy through the program.

“I feel bad for the kids, and the foster kids she’s had, and just everybody,” Damon said. “They loved her. How could you not? She was always happy-go-lucky. Just that type of person, a big heart.”

Tucker appeared briefly in St. Stephen court Wednesday afternoon. He was silent and avoided looking at the family members that filled the room.

His lawyers asked for a psychiatric evaluation, which the judge granted. Tucker will be sent to Campbellton, where doctors will evaluate whether he can stand trial and if he can be found criminally responsible for the crime.

For friends like Damon, they’re still dealing with the loss.

“It was a shock. The whole thing was a shock. To everyone. And people are still writing on her Facebook, even though she’s not here. They’re still “Dorothy” and posting pictures and everything’s just Dorothy,” she said.
