An early morning fire Saturday gutted a Revelstoke home. It happened just before 1:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of Loschinski Road.
“The two occupants of the residence were out of the building when fire crews first arrived on scene and were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation,” says Revelstoke Fire Chief, Rob Girard, “however, we were unable to locate the family cat.”
Girard says a working smoke alarm alerted the residents, which may have saved their lives.
It was an extensive fight for firefighters, taking crews nearly four hours to extinguish the flames.
Investigators believe the fire was caused by a problem with the furnace.
Another house fire Sunday afternoon in Penticton forced three people from their home. The small fire was contained to the bathroom, but there was significant smoke damage to the home.
Investigators believe the fire started by a candle.
