TORONTO – Residents of three high-rise apartment buildings on Pharmacy Road are still without water after a water main broke on Wednesday.
Their elevators have also been out of service since Wednesday.
And, they say, they’re being given no information about when they’ll be able to use their taps or toilets again.
The buildings are 283, 263 and 273 Pharmacy Avenue north of Danforth Avenue.
But a plumping company contracted by the property management firm Homestead is making progress; on Friday, company workers found the location of the broken water main and are beginning to make repairs.
“They have now reached the pipe and trying to identify the parts that are damaged. Hopefully we will have an update soon what that will require,” Habibe Lamcja, the property manager said.
The property management company has opened up one of their buildings on Erskine Avenue near Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue for residents to have a shower.
The lack of water stems from a broken water main on the apartment property. The city has turned off the water to the building until the repairs are made.
But it is the property owner which must repair the water main.
The city’s Municipal Licensing and Standards division is investigating complaints from the tenants stemming from the incident.
