Rain forces closures of Halifax area streets

HALIFAX – Several streets in the Halifax area have been closed due to localized flooding, which may affect Thursday’s morning commute:

• Bedford Highway – closed between Flamingo Drive and Bayview Drive – a detour is in place
• Hammonds Plains Road and Bluewater – the intersection is closed – traffic is being re-directed at Kearney Lake Road and Gary Martin Drive
• Waverly Road between 1600 to 2100 block – passable with caution
• Hawthorne Street and Crichton Avenue – passable with caution
• Rocky Lake Drive near Quarry Stone Drive – passable with caution
• Pleasant Street in front of Dartmouth General Hospital – reopened early Thursday morning
