2 women pinned by car in Dartmouth parking lot crash

HALIFAX – Halifax police say two women were taken to hospital after being pinned by a vehicle in a library parking lot on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at the public library on Eisener Boulevard in Dartmouth.

Police say an 89-year-old woman who was driving in the lot, told investigators that she accidentally accelerated after swerving to avoid another vehicle that had pulled out of a parking spot in front of her.

Police say the woman’s vehicle struck two women and pinned them against a parked car, which was then pushed into another parked car and then a third and a fourth.

Police say one woman was taken to hospital by a friend, while the second woman was transported by ambulance with what appeared to be serious leg injuries.

The driver wasn’t hurt and police say charges are not anticipated.
