CALGARY- It’s winner takes all, right to the food bank.

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi and Hamilton mayor-elect Fred Eisenberger have put a lot of food on the line for their Grey Cup bet.

The losing city of Sunday’s Grey Cup battle between the Calgary Stampeders and Hamilton Tiger-Cats will have to donate 45 kilograms of food to the winning city’s food bank.

Mayor Nenshi also encourages people at Grey Cup parties to have similar bets.

“Encourage your guests to bring a donation to your local food bank, make bets with your friends and family across the country on your local food bank and let’s make sure the food bank wins no matter what happens,” Mayor Nenshi said.

You can donate by visiting the Calgary Food Bank (specifically the Mayor’s 26th Annual Christmas Food Drive).

The losing mayor will also have to wear the winning team’s jersey to the next city council meeting.

There’s also a third element to the bet, which involves pastries.

“When the Stampeders win, a wonderful store in Hamilton called ‘Bitten’ will send over a bunch of cupcakes and whoopie pies,” Mayor Nenshi says.

The CFL’s championship game is Sunday at BC place in Vancouver, kickoff time is 3 p.m. mountain standard time.
