KELOWNA — The murder trial of 26-year-old Conor Frederick Grossmith wrapped up in Kelowna court Friday with the judge finding the defendant not criminally responsible.
Grossmith was charged with second-degree murder for the bludgeoning death of his 57-year-old mother about two years ago. He walked into his mother’s bedroom September 13, 2012 and crushed her skull with repeated blows from a hammer.

The question was never whether or not he did it, but his state of mind at the time of the murder. The judge found him not guilty due to a preexisting medical disorder.

He concluded Grossmith was in the midst of a severe manic episode, brought on by his bi-polar infliction.
