Teenager in life threatening condition after being hit by CTrain

CALGARY – Emergency crews responded to reports that a pedestrian was struck by a CTrain at the City Hall station around 5:20 p.m. on Thursday.

Police say the victim was a male in his late teens. He is in life threatening condition.

Witnesses say the victim was hit twice, by trains in both directions.

All CTrains in the area was shut down for about an hour and shuttle buses were put in place.

Traffic in the area was heavily affected while emergency crews closed down Macleod Trail temporarily.

Earlier in the day, a truck was hit by a CTrain in the downtown core. Police say the truck was travelling westbound on 4th Avenue S.W., and was hit when it crossed over the tracks between 8th Street and 9th Street S.W.

In that instance, no injuries were reported.

Hours later, a CTrain derailed and crashed into the City Hall platform.
