Okanagan Forecast:  Crisp and Clear This Week

Weather update: Tuesday November 11th 4:30pm

Not much change over the next few days.  Expect cool and mostly sunny conditions.

Remember the omega block?  We talked about it a couple times in the summer.  In case you missed it, an omega block is when the upper flow looks like an “omega” symbol with an upper ridge between two upper lows.  This type of upper level weather pattern encourages very little change, and now this pattern has returned and set up across our side of the globe. We are just under the east side of the upper ridge in this blocking pattern, and as a result, with barely any changes ahead, a northerly flow will be in place for a few days.

When a northerly flow in the upper levels is over us at this time of year, we can expect cool and dry air that is sourced from the Arctic. Cold air can’t hold moisture well, hence the little precipitation in the forecast and the sunshine.
