They blew a two goal lead – but the Canucks still came away with two points.
Daniel Sedin scored a powerplay goal in overtime, and the Vancouver Canucks defeated the conference-leading Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in overtime Thursday night.
Montreal came into the game leading the Eastern Conference with eight wins in their first ten games.
However, the Canucks struck first, courtesy of a pretty give-and-go between Nick Bonino and Derek Dorsett in the second period, which ended with Bonino burying his fourth goal of the year
Brad Richardson also scored two minutes into the third period, giving the Canucks a 2-0 lead.
The Canadiens came back, with goals by Alex Galchenyuk and Max Pacioretty in the final ten minutes of the third.
But an interference call against Tom Gilbert 50 seconds into overtime gave the Canucks the opening they needed.
Vancouver is now 7-3 on the year, tied for second in the Pacific Division. Montreal is now 8-2-1, and still lead the Eastern Conference.
