WINNIPEG – One of the city’s favourite polar bears celebrated his third birthday Saturday.

He was born on October 11, 2011 at The Toronto Zoo. His mother is Aurora who lives at the zoo in Toronto. Hudson’s father is Inukshuk, who visits the Toronto Zoo to breed. After giving birth to Hudson and another cub, Aurora rejected the cubs and Hudson was eventually moved to his own exhibit in Toronto. He arrived at Assiniboine Park Zoo at the end of January 2013 and has been a star in Winnipeg ever since.

Visitors can come to the Assiniboine Park Zoo to watch Hudson and his friends enjoy treats all weekend for his birthday. The underground tunnel to view the bears is still temporarily closed after the bears chewed through the silicone in September. The rest of the Journey to Churchill exhibit will be open.
