Paid parking experiment in Banff ends - image

A controversial “paid parking” trial in Banff has ended – a month earlier than scheduled.

The trial, which began last month, involved the town charging two dollars an hour to park in any of five premium lots.

It was hoped that would free up parking stalls – and encourage people living in Banff to walk or bike to work.

But the idea was poorly received by Banff residents who demanded the trial either be axed or put to a public vote.
