UPDATE: Louie Sparvier, 29, has died of his injuries following a fight yesterday morning in Ridge Meadows. A second man suffered life-threatening injuries following the incident. He was taken to hospital and is currently in critical condition. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the investigation.

A stabbing in Maple Ridge has left one male in critical condition this morning, according to RCMP.
Ridge Meadows RCMP Insp. Dan Splinter told Global News they got a call at about 8 a.m. this morning regarding a fight between two males that got violent quite quickly.
During the fight, one shot was fired and one person was stabbed. Both males involved in the fight were injured and the stabbing victim is currently in critical condition.
The two males have been taken to hospital for treatment.
One of the victims is well-known to police but Splinter says it’s too early to say if the shooting was targeted.
“There’s a great deal about this that we don’t know,” Splinter says. “The scene will be locked down for several hours.”
Police forensic teams are on-site and currently Laity Street is closed between Lougheed Highway while they continue their investigation.
