For all you guys looking for that perfect marriage proposal, Seattle Seahawks defensive back DeShawn Shead may have just set the bar pretty high.
Of course, not everyone is a member of an NFL team – or one that had just won at home in overtime against the Denver Broncos, in a rematch of Super Bowl XLVIII.
But for Shead, his day was just beginning.
Following the game, he gathered with his teammates and media as well as his girlfriend Jessica Martinez on the turf at CenturyLink Field.
Suddenly, “Marry You” by Bruno Mars starts playing on the PA system. On the video screen, “Will You Marry Me Jessica?” was displayed, and just like that – Shead was on one knee.
Luckily for everyone, her answer was yes.
“I was actually surprised they started playing our song,” Jessica told KIRO News after the proposal. “And I said ‘That’s so random honey, they’re playing our song!’”.
Asked about how he chose his venue for popping the question, Shead jokingly said it was only fair.
That’s the sort of give-and-take attitude that’s helpful in any marriage – though an epic marriage proposal doesn’t hurt either.
