Superior finish to summer weather but how long will it last?

A summer sequel for Saskatoon is in the works this week as the mercury soars up to ten degrees above seasonal for the last week of the season. Peter Quinlan / SkyTracker Weather

SASKATOON – After a cool spell during the second week of September that saw Saskatoon’s temperatures fall below freezing for the first time in over a hundred days, conditions are recovering to provide a splendid finish to summer.

A ridge of high pressure is building over southern and central Saskatchewan this week, which is expected to boost the mercury into the mid-20s by Thursday.

Under the upper ridge, Saskatoon will see sunny skies by mid-week, followed by a slightly cloudier Friday with a slight chance of showers as a disturbance ripples through.

The weekend will bring back sunshine with daytime highs staying in the 20s right through into the first day of fall, which occurs Sept. 22 at 8:29 p.m.
