FREDERICTON, N.B. – Police conducted several searches in eight communities across Southern New Brunswick Wednesday in what’s being called an ongoing investigation into organized crime.
New Brunswick RCMP Federal Operations West, with help from the Saint John Police Force, Kennebecasis Regional Police Force and Canada Border Services Agency, are carrying out the searches.
“These searches are all related to an ongoing drugs and organized crime investigation that’s been going on in the province,” said Cpl. Chantal Farrah. “As you can appreciate, there was a lot of resources and it takes a lot of time to execute these searches.”
The searches are happening in Saint John, Scoudouc, Oromocto, Moncton, Seeleys Cove, Springfield, Grand Manan and Willow Grove.
Police have also carried out arrests in Laval, Quebec and Halifax, N.S.
“The police, this is the information that we have to date, but we anticipate that (Thursday) we’ll be in a better position to provide more information to the public about this operation,” Farrah said.
Police say the operation comes after years of working jointly on the investigation.
