Body recovered after collapse of Toronto house under renovation

WATCH: There are allegations about major building violations surrounding a fatal house collapse in north Toronto. Cindy Pom reports.

A man’s body has been recovered from the rubble of a house that collapsed while under renovation in north Toronto.

It took several hours before crews could remove the body of the 19-year-old man on Tuesday night.

A second person was taken to hospital with serious lower body injuries after the house collapsed on Tuesday afternoon.

Both levels of the two-storey house came crashing to the ground in what was called a pancake collapse.

The workers were reportedly in the basement, underpinning the foundation.

Names have not been released.
