Manitoba highway crash kills man south of Morden

WINNIPEG – A 63-year-old man from the rural municipality of Stanley died in a crash about nine kilometres south of Morden, Man., on Sunday evening.

The man was driving a pickup south on Highway 432 at about 9 p.m. when the driver of a grain truck tried to turn left into the same lane and the trucks collided, police said in a news release.

The pickup truck rolled, stopping in the west ditch.

The driver was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His passenger, a 56-year-old woman who is also from the RM of Stanley, was taken to hospital in critical condition, which has since been upgraded to stable.

The 83-year-old Morden man who was driving the grain truck wasn’t injured, police said.

RCMP, including a forensic collision reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
