TORONTO – Second degree murder charges have been laid in the death of a 53-year-old man in downtown Toronto.
Police were contacted by a concerned citizen in the Parliament and Wellesley area on Friday afternoon, regarding an assault that occurred in a nearby parkette.
Police say the 53-year-old male victim was in the parkette when another man, who was known to him, approached and began assaulting him.
Alexandre Joseph Lavallee, 53, of no fixed address was taken to hospital with extensive facial damage and died from his injuries on Saturday.
Police say a suspect, Paul Douglas Richard, 56, of Toronto has been arrested and charged with second degree murder.
