Bakery launches a challenge on the heels of ALS ice bucket campaign

Sweet Ambrosia gears up for its Bake a Difference challenge. It launches Monday. Global News

A new project by a local bakery is aiming to make community outreach a little bit sweeter.

Kim & Ashlee’s Sweet Ambrosia will launch its “Bake a Difference” campaign on Monday.

They will bake 100 cookies, each with a kind message on them, and donate them to another group.

In turn, that group will bake 100 cookies and give them to another group, nominating them to be next.

“The crazy things that people were doing with the ice bucket challenge, and the attention that it got for a good cause, we’re hoping to have that kind of spill over to us,” said Ashlee Mitchell, co-owner of Sweet Ambrosia. “You can do community work. You can do volunteer work, and instead of some people thinking of it as a chore or something that’s dreaded, we want people to have fun.”

For each group that participates, Sweet Ambrosia will donate 50 cookies for the Red Cross’s Day of Pink next April.
