TORONTO – Rob Ford won’t be attending this evening’s mayoral debate as he will be focused on drumming up support at his $300 per person fundraiser in Etobicoke.

Fellow mayoral candidates Olivia Chow, David Soknacki, John Tory and Karen Stintz will be debating heritage and culture issues inside The Cathedral Centre at 65 Church Street beginning at 7 p.m.

Ford’s fundraiser is taking place in his mother’s backyard and is being billed as an “intimate and elegant evening” with the mayor.

An e-mail invite sent out earlier this week called the 200 guest gathering the “premier event of the election season.”
