VERNON, B.C. – Flames destroyed a large barn in Vernon early Thursday morning.
RCMP were called to the barn on Pottery Road shortly after 4 a.m. The structure burned to the ground.
RCMP say that the barn was loaded with hay and that there were no animals in the structure. A workshop next to the barn was also destroyed.
Investigators are looking into whether the fire may have started in the workshop and spread to the barn.
There were a number of water line breaks in the area of Pottery Road when the fire happened. However the city of Vernon says that the breaks are not related to the fire.
Repairs are currently underway and affected residents have been notified. The work should be complete by Thursday afternoon.
