TORONTO — A movie starring Mexican actor Gael García Bernal, Brazil’s Mariana Ximenes and Canadian stars Jason Priestley and Alison Pill will shoot scenes in Toronto next month.

The feature comedy Zoom is a Canadian co-production about a comic book artist, a novelist and a filmmaker.

Bernal, 35, is best known for his role in 2001’s erotic drama Y tu mamá también and for portraying Che Guevara in 2004’s The Motorcycle Diaries.

Ximenes, 33, is well known in her native Brazil for her many TV and movie roles.

The movie, directed by Pedro Morelli, is a bilingual blend of animation and live action.

It has been in production in Brazil since early June and additional scenes will be shot in Toronto from Aug. 9 to 20.

The cast of Zoom also includes Canadians Don McKellar and Jennifer Irwin.

Toronto also played host to the 2006 family comedy Zoom starring Tim Allen and Courtney Cox. It was shot inside then-vacant Maple Leaf Gardens.
