Ten days after Arthur, 4500 across N.B. remain without power

FREDERICTON – The city of Fredericton continues to clean up after post-tropical storm Arthur ripped through the province 10 days ago.

About 4,500 across the province were still without power Monday morning. About 3,700 of those customers are in the Fredericton area.

At its peak, the storm knocked out power to 200,000 customers. More than 300 crews have been working to restore power.

The Grant-Harvey Centre and Willie O’Ree Place continue to open for those who need shower facilities or water. Over 6,100 people have been using those centres since last Monday and over 30,000 litres of water have been used.

The storm damaged or destroyed over 4,000 trees throughout the city, not including those on private property or in parks. That’s about 7.5 per cent of the trees the city is responsible for.
