The city of Vancouver is accusing the company which makes life-saving gear used by the city’s firefighters of negligence.
Vancouver has filed a civil suit in B.C. Supreme Court against Draeger Safety Canada, which produces breathing apparatuses.
The equipment is supposed to allow firefighters to breathe normally when entering structure fires.
The city alleges the gear was defective and posed a serious threat to the safety of first responders.
Vancouver is suing for breach of contract and negligence. The allegations have not been proven in court.
