Sûreté du Québec investigates homicide in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts

SAINTE-AGATHE-DES-MONTHS – The Sûreté du Québec is investigating after a woman was found unconscious in an apartment in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, a small town in the Laurentides just one hour away from Montreal.

She was discovered early Saturday morning around 9 a.m. in a triplex at the corner of Saint-Bruno street and Saint-Paul street East.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene where it was discovered the woman had no vital signs.

She was not transported to hospital until 4 p.m.

According to the SQ, officers do not have the power to declare a person dead and must wait for a doctor to do so unless the death is obvious.

The woman was pronounced dead at 11 p.m. by a coroner.

A man in the apartment was reportedly also taken to hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The SQ confirmed it does have a suspect is in custody.

An autopsy is expected to be performed on Monday.
