MONTREAL – An 18-year-old driver is dead after a car collided with a train Saturday night at around 8:15 p.m in L’Isle-Verte.

Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Claude Denis says there was only one person in the vehicle at the time of collision.

The train was not a passenger train or a freight train.

The SQ is checking to make sure the warning lights were working properly and confirmed there are no barriers at the crossing.

Provincial police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
