VANCOUVER – Abbotsford police officers were able to reunite a litter of puppies with their owners soon after they were stolen overnight.

The occupants of a rural property in the Bradner Road area called police just after 1 a.m. to say five of their seven pit bull puppies had been taken from a secure barn.

Several people had contacted the owners through online ads and expressed interest in buying the dogs.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“We chased down one of those leads and literally came upon four suspects and the puppies in a vehicle in central Abbotsford,” said Ian MacDonald, public information officer with the Abbotsford Police Department.

“We affected the arrest and we were able to safely return those five puppies back to their owner.”

“It’s a happy-ending story,” added MacDonald.
