Storied head of SAIT athletics steps down after nearly 3 decades

CALGARY- He’s been at the helm of the SAIT Trojans athletic teams for nearly three decades, but on Wednesday Ken Babey announced he is stepping down.

Babey was the coach of the men’s hockey team, and also served as athletic director for the past 17 years.

His squad recently won the 2014 ACAC Championship, and Babey says now is the perfect time to step down.

“I’m happy about it, but I’m going to miss SAIT a lot,” he said. “It’s a day filled with a lot of emotions, a lot of great emotions, [there are] a lot of great memories, a lot of great people here.”
