LONGUEUIL – Two boys, aged 15 and 17, were arrested and face questioning by Longueuil police in relation to the vandalism of about 50 school buses Thursday night.

Hundreds of students woke up on Friday without a way to get to school after the Commission Scolaire Marie Victorin issued a statement on its website informing parents that their children would not be picked.

Around 31 public schools and six private schools were affected.

The buses belonged to Autobus Longueuil on Jacques-Cartier boulevard in Vieux-Longueuil.

Fire extinguishers were removed from some of the buses and several windows were broken.

Longueuil police sent out officers to the school zones to help with the traffic flow.

They were assisted by many teachers and administrative staff.

It is not known if the boys will face criminal charges.

School bus transportation is expected to be back to normal on Monday.
