HALIFAX – The Nova Scotia government wants to see more garbage diverted from its landfills.
Environment Minister Randy Delorey says the government is seeking public input on proposed changes to solid waste regulations.

A discussion paper says the province wants to promote more reuse and recycling through new disposal bans and changes to recycling rules.
Among other things, the province is looking at making some producers responsible for recycling their products.
As well, the government says there could be new disposal bans on packaging, paper, compact fluorescent light bulbs and batteries.
The province is also looking into changing its used tire management program.
