Volunteers needed for children’s festival

Volunteers are needed to help run the 2014 Fat Cat Festival in Kelowna's Waterfront Park, June 6th & 7th. Fat Cat 2013/ Global Okanagan

KELOWNA, B.C. – Less than a month to go until the annual Fat Cat Children’s Festival and more than 200 volunteers are still needed to make the event a success.

This year’s theme , ‘Inspiring Creativity: Naturally”, has inspired eco-friendly activity stations that need a ‘strong corps of community-minded people’ to man, according to Artistic Director Dorothee Birker.

Face painting and punk hair stations have been the most popular at the Kelowna event and will be back for the June 6th and 7th events at Waterfront Park.

“We are testing a new system by having our volunteers sign up online and are hoping it makes it easier for them to find the right fit for how they want to help,” says Birker. “Once they follow the link from our website, they can see all the available choices and times available and sign up for one or more time slots.” Follow the links here:

Admission is $5 per person or $15 for a Family of 4. Early Bird Family Passes are available at all Interior Savings branches from Lake Country to West Kelowna for only $10.
