WINNIPEG –  Winnipeg lawyer Jack King has died.

His family confirmed in a statement Tuesday he passed away after a short battle with cancer.

King became notorious for sparking a judicial scandal involving nude photos of his wife, Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench associate justice Lori Douglas.

King admitted to trying convince a former client , Alex Chapman to sleep with Douglas in 2003, when she was a lawyer working at the same firm as King.

He also showed Chapman nude photos of Douglas, which were posted on a pornographic website.

The scandal came to light in 2010 and King was charged with professional misconduct by the Law Society. He pleaded guilty and was given a reprimand.

Douglas remains suspended from judicial duties while her alleged role in the scandal is investigated by the Judicial Council of Canada.
