N.B. building evacuated, woman quarantined due to suspicious package

CAMPBELLTON, N.B. – Police say a woman was placed in quarantine Wednesday after being in contact with a suspicious package delivered to a building in Campbellton, N.B.

Const. Jullie Rogers-Marsh of the RCMP says a hazardous materials unit had been sent to the town in northeastern New Brunswick from Halifax to examine the package, which was delivered to an office building on Aberdeen Street.

She says the building was evacuated after the parcel was reported to police at about 9:30 a.m.

The building includes a public library and the office of the local member of the legislature.

Police say roads around the office remain open and there is no danger to people living in the area.
