Several Olympians visited Castle Mountain near Pincher Creek Tuesday to take part in the province’s only Cat Skiing.
After months of intense training these athletes were looking for a chance to relax and unwind.
“There is a lot of build up and stress going into the games so to be able to celebrate it and ride a mountain it does not get any better than that,” said Eric Neilson who competed in skeleton in Sochi.
The list of Olympians included:
Brad Spence (Alpine)
Graham Nishikawa XC Ski Team
Jesse Lumsden (bobsleigh/cfl)
Helen Upperton (bobsleigh)
Sam Edney (luge)
Justin Snith (luge)
Brady Lehman (ski cross)
Louis-Pierre Helie (ski cross)
Tyler Seitz (luge)
Brian McKeever (Para-Nordic)
Robin McKeever (Para-Nordic)
Ivan Babikov (cross country skiing)
Eric Neilson (skeleton)
Most of the athletes say it’s their first time skiing in knee-deep powder. Most of the Olympians said during their training they are not able to do extreme sports and this was a real treat.
