With the assistance of the Regina Integrated Drug Unit (RIDU), Yorkton and Estevan Police charged a total of 16 people in relation to drug trafficking Tuesday.

Yorkton:

On Tuesday, Yorkton and RIDU authorities concluded a three week operation that targeted street and mid-level drug trafficking. A total of four Controlled Drug & Substance Act (CDSA) search warrants were executed on 4 residences located in Yorkton.

This was a street level drug investigation and resulted in marijuana, crack cocaine, and Ritalin being seized by the RIDU.

Five adult males and one young person have been charged with 11 counts of trafficking of a controlled substance, 11 criminal code charges of possession of crime and one charge of theft.

The five adult males facing charges are: William Crawford (24-years-old), Nathan Lowe (32-years-old), Kristopher Liebrecht (33-years-old), Luke Scuthchings (21-years-old), and Layne Stehr (20-years-old).

A 15-year-old male was also charged with trafficking & proceeds of crime. He can not be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

All individuals above are from Yorkton.

As a result of these search warrants being executed, 4 additional adults have been arrested.

All of the above accused will be making a scheduled court appearance Tuesday afternoon in Yorkton.

Estevan:

The RIDU and Estevan police completed a two month drug investigation targeting street and mid-level drug trafficking that has resulted in multiple arrests and seizures Tuesday morning in Estevan. Two CDSA search warrants were executed and four vehicles were seized Tuesday in Estevan.

Police issued 41 controlled drug and substances act/criminal code charges against 10 individuals. A variety of controlled substances which include crack cocaine, marijuana ecstasy were seized as part of the investigation.

The 10 people facing charges include: Michael Baguma (28-years-old), Naiomi Mcarthur (26-years-old), Gregory Beston (23-years-old), Jason Lunn (31-years-old), Hussein Daud (28-years-old), Raven Engel (19-years-old), Benjamin Decker (24-years-old), Richard Stregger (43-years-old), Dylan Hauck (19-years-old), and Gerald Kanigan (45-years-old).

All of the accused above are from Estevan except for Naiomo Mcarthur who is from Regina.

The following criminal charges will be laid as a result of the searches in Estevan this morning: possession of marijuana, possession of ecstasy, unsafe storage of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles).

All of the above accused will be making a scheduled court appearance on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in Estevan Provincial Court.

Police do expect to lay further charges stemming from both of these investigations.

The two investigations in Yorkton and Estevan are independent of one another.
