TORONTO – Despite an international effort to find the missing Malaysia Airways Boeing 777 jet, authorities in Kuala Lumpur confirmed on Monday they were still no closer to locating the plane and the 239 people onboard.

Malaysia’s civil aviation chief, Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, said his government would intensify their efforts to find the aircraft, which has been missing for nearly three days.

According to Vietnam’s state-run Thanh Nien newspaper, which was citing the deputy chief of staff of Vietnam’s army, a low flying plane on Sunday spotted an object that appeared to be one of the plane’s doors.

But that was denied by Azharuddin on Monday.
