TORONTO – A woman charged with assaulting a police officer after being accused of engaging in a sex act on a January flight is also facing an indecent act charge, and so is her alleged partner in crime.

Twenty-four-year-old Alicia Lander of West Porter’s Lake, N.S. and 38-year-old Jason Chase of Halifax are scheduled to appear in court to enter a plea April 1.

“The sex act was not intercourse,” Halifax RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Scott MacRae told Global News at the time of the incident.

“Both passengers were in their seats, touching the other person…in a sexual manner…mostly clothed.”

In addition to the indecent act charge, Lander faces charges of assaulting a police officer, causing a disturbance and mischief.

Police said at the time that when they approached the pair, the woman became agitated, engaged in “vulgar and disruptive behaviour” and was arrested for causing a disturbance. She allegedly then kicked an officer as she was being led away.

When asked if the couple knew each other prior to the Air Canada flight, MacRae said Tuesday that police “don’t confirm relationship.”

Air Canada declined to comment on the case.
