TORONTO — Spring is just around the corner — which means, naturally, it’s time to make Christmas movies.

Several holiday-themed flicks for the small screen are being produced in Canada in March.

In Vancouver, cameras are set to roll March 9 on Jingle All The Way 2, a follow-up to the 1996 comedy starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The direct-to-video sequel, directed by Alex Zamm (The Tooth Fairy 2) will star Larry The Cable Guy and Ontario-born Anthony Carelli — better known as WWE personality Santino Marella.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Jingle All The Way 2 is scheduled to wrap up production in early April.

Also shooting in Vancouver in March are the TV movies Christmas Tree Farm (until March 13) for Calgary-born director David Winning and The Christmas Secret (March 3 to 20) for Norma Bailey of Winnipeg.

Vancouver actress April Telek (Rogue), is set to star in Santa Hunters, a Nickelodeon movie directed by Savage Holland (Big Time Rush).

Santa Hunters will be filmed March 4 to 27.

On the other side of the country, production is underway in Toronto on A Christmas Horror Story, a feature film from Grant Harvey and Brett Sullivan.

It will wrap at the end of March.

The TV movie Angel On My Tree is set to shoot in Hamilton, Ont. from March 3 to 18 with Canadian director Alan Goluboff.

In Montreal, the Hallmark Channel movie Northpole is being directed by Douglas Barr.

It is described as “charming tale about a reporter who, with the help of her son and his teacher, recaptures the joy of the holiday season and in the process saves Christmas.”
