WINNIPEG – The city has identified what caused brown water to pour out of many Winnipeggers’ taps over the summer, Mayor Sam Katz has told CJOB radio.
A report that will be released at a special council meeting this week has found the cause, Katz said.
“Administration is preparing for a council seminar on discoloured water, and a report is expected for an upcoming public works committee meeting,” the mayor’s office emailed to Global News.
“They’re going to have a council seminar to inform all the councillors,” Katz told CJOB on Thursday morning. “They are going to have their experts come in. It appears they’ve written a thorough report and we’ll move forward from there.”
The report is then expected to go to the Feb. 4 public works committee.
Complaints about brown water soared over the summer and into the fall, with part of St. Vital being subject to a boil water advisory on Oct. 8 and 9.
